It never fails, there is always someone on your gift giving list that you want to give a gift card.  There are the traditional ways, inside a greeting card, gift card holders, etc.  But you want to make it more personal, special or unique.  In this edition of “Ideas for the Creative Soul,” we will look at some unique, inexpensive ways to make gift card giving one of a kind.

• Seaside Luxury – To start off, find a small glass holder, usually found in the glass section of your local craft store. Next, pour in some sand, then add miniatures or seashells, to get the seaside look you are wanting to accomplish.  Finally, nestle the gift card in the sand so that even if the holder is gently moved, the gift card stays in place.  You will have a fun, relaxing look to an ordinary gift card.
• Creative Gift Bags – *The zippered bags we used for this idea came from Amazon (10 PCS White Canvas Makeup Cosmetic Bag-Pouch Zipper Bag Organizer). We recommend these bags as they were heavy duty and the marker drawings did not leak through to the other side of the bag. * Find an image that best describes the person or the occasion you are giving the gift card for.  Get a blank canvas zippered bag.  Place the image inside the bag.  Next place the bag on a light pad.  Trace the image with ultra-fine tip permanent markers.  Once finished, turn off the light pad to see if any areas need to be darkened or retraced.  Another idea, let the kids draw whatever they would like, turning the bag into a personalized card.  Not only do you have a fun gift card holder, but it is also a treasured keep sake.
• Romantic Moment – Looking to add an air of romance, trying putting a gift card to their favorite place nestled in a dozen red roses (or cheaper flowers if your budget can’t stretch that far). It brings something to cherish in the moment and something to cherish later.
• Love Notes – Instead of buying one $40 gift card, buy four $10 gift cards. On each gift card write what you love about them, appreciate about them, birthday wishes for the coming year, etc.  It’s makes the gift card be about them and not just shopping.
• Amazon Shipping Box – Ok, so we acknowledge, this was not our idea, but it is just so cute. Amazon offers certain gift cards in a teeny, tiny Amazon shipping box.  Perfect gift for someone who is moving or someone who just loves Amazon.  You can easily slide a note inside to add a personal effect.
